Ottawa earmarks $40B for Indigenous child welfare compensation

The federal government is setting aside $FORTY billion in its fall economic update for First Countries child welfare because it continues talks on settling reimbursement claims.

the money is to cover the associated fee of settling a Canadian Human Rights Tribunal order, two magnificence motion complaints and long-time period reform of the Indigenous kid welfare device over a 5 year period, in line with one source with wisdom of the negotiations.

Two sources have advised CBC News the federal government will make its plans recognized this afternoon. The Globe and Mail first suggested on the construction in advance as of late.

This offer doesn’t constitute a final settlement; the events have until December 31 to finalize one.
