Moms get to tackle sons during Illinois HS football practice

An Illinois high school football team’s “mom’s night practice” will certainly make some interesting conversations around the dinner table – and hopefully no hard feelings after some hard hits.   

The annual practice, held on Aug. 12, at Washington High School in Washington, Ill., where players’ moms get to learn positions, terminology, and plays and also get to tackle their sons, was highlighted by a number of local news affiliates this month.

The video from WMBD-TV in Peoria, Ill., shows the moms at the end of the practice getting to put on helmets, shoulder pads and a practice jersey and getting to lower the boom on their sons – who are standing still in front of a landing pad.

Let’s just say a few of these moms barreled over their sons as if they had missed a week of chores as the coaches, dads, players and other spectators looked on – delivering a few oh’s and ah’s. One didn’t have as much luck bouncing off her son to some friendly laughs from the crowd.

All in all, it looks like a good time was had by all when plenty of memories were made between moms and sons.
